Almonds and Eagles.Private House Sale Hidden amongst the Almond groves, approximately 1,200 metres up in the Sierra Segura region of Castilla la Mancha, lies a relatively undiscovered area of Spain which offers a unique opportunity for those who enjoy walking, fishing, painting, photography, wildlife or simply relaxing by the lakes and rivers. Casa Sanchez is a recently carefully restored finca within it’s own Almond grove in a small village, perched on the side of a mountain with wonderful views. The tranquillity of the area is broken only by the occasional cry of an Eagle or the bleating of the sheep being moved around the mountainside by the local shepherd. The scenery is breathtaking and surprisingly green and the wildlife includes Eagles and a wide variety of birds, boar, and lynx, to name but a few. In the Spring the mountains are covered with Almond blossom, followed in succession by a mass of alpine flowers and herbs, fields of poppies in May and the wonderful aroma of Rosemary and Thyme throughout the year, from which local honey is made. For the walker, the Don Quixote route is easily accessible and there are many designated walking routes available on request. The long summer months can be hotter than temperatures experienced on the coast, but are often accompanied by cooling mountain breezes. |
